November 2009

Festivals and Freebees

Halloween is gone and Guy Fawkes night  happens this week - we can expect rain from Thursday - Saturday (whichever night you have chosen to let off your crackers !) ... and then we are into the home straights and it is Christmas !!

There are already many happy customers well over half way to their FREE Biltong - just in time for Christmas ! One regular customer filled 6 squares in one visit, so luckily there is no limit to the number of Voucher Cards you can exchange by the end of December. Remember the more you order, the more FREE BILTONG you get.  We will still be issuing Vouchers throughout November.

Please be aware that as we get closer to Christmas the mail gets ever more congested and the postal strikes do not help. We are using a courier service wherever possible to avoid delays but please leave enough time when placing orders, especially for specific events.

Bring on the Potjie

Potjies are an integral part of most South African homes - they are an important item in the family  'entertaining toolkit'.   Did you leave yours behind when you left SA ?  Wish you had it here now that summer is over and braais are not always possible thanks to the iffy weather?  Hearty, soul warming potjiekos would go so well in the cold, dark months of British winter - that succulent neck of lamb or fall-off-the-bone tender oxtail, mmmmmmm.   Potjies give another meaning to the word 'stew' and can be used quite successfully on gas cookers to give the food that unmistakeable flavour. A great way to feed a hungry family or to entertain friends. Cheap cuts of meat can be turned into something quite heavenly with loads of veges for a healthy meal.

Oh - I forgot - you didn't bring that heavy old pot with you ! No problem, give Rose a call on 01268-685728 and we will order just the right size potjie for you and send it right to your door - or you can collect it from the shop. Usually available within 7 - 10 days.

So now there is nothing stopping you from enjoying something really traditional and unique this Christmas or indeed throughout the winter.
